Contests & Contest Results
Congratulations Christa Gornjak! Christa is the winner of the 2011 "What You Hear" or "Your Best Wipeout" contest. Her entry reflects on something I think most skiers can relate to...turning into a human snowball and leaving a snow crater for all to admire. Here is Christas' entry:
Excited for the first ski of the winter and I am heading down a long hill, picking up speed, a low branch is hanging over the trail so I take it in the shoulder and it feels like ice balls. I am knocked off track, my skis start spreading and I superwoman it right in the middle of the trail. I get up, brush the snow off, and look back...nice body print for the skaters to laugh at!! Love it!
"What You Hear" $20 Essay Contest
A winner could not be determined for the essay contest. Only one entry was received by an anonymous party. As a result the contest will be held again next year. The contest will run from 12-15-2010 until 2-15-2011 and will be expanded to include “Your Best Wipeout”. So, all you writers out there get your entries in for the “What You Hear” or “Your Best Wipeout” essay contest. The rules are the same for either essay. Below is the anonymous entry received from 2010.
Creaks and groans of trees warming in early morning sun
A distant howl of the highway that brought me here for skiing fun
The sound of my breath moving with time
A light clatter of branches, sounds like a wind chime
